UAE Investor Visa: How to Get Residency Through Your Company

Setting up a company is one of the most direct routes to UAE residency. Here's how the investor (partner) visa works, and how it fits with your licence.

For a lot of people, the real goal behind setting up a UAE company isn't just the business, it's residency. The investor visa (often called a partner visa) is one of the most direct ways to get it, because it flows from owning a company here. Here's how it works.

What the investor visa is

When you own a UAE company, you can typically sponsor your own residence visa as the investor or partner in that business. It's a standard residence visa, usually issued for a couple of years and renewable, and it comes from your ownership of the licence rather than from an employer. In other words, your company becomes the vehicle for your residency.

How it connects to your licence

This is why the visa count matters when you choose a package. Your licence determines how many residence visas you can hold, and the first of those is often your own investor visa. Once you have it, you can look at sponsoring family members too. Deciding your visa needs early, starting with your own, shapes which package makes sense.

The process, in outline

Getting the visa involves a few steps that follow company formation: an entry permit, a change of status if you're already in the country, a medical test, Emirates ID registration, and visa stamping. The medical and biometric steps happen inside the UAE, so if you're setting up from abroad you'll plan a short visit for them. It's a well-trodden path that we handle end to end.

Investor visa vs Golden Visa

Don't confuse the two. The standard investor visa is the everyday residence route that comes with owning a normal company, accessible and relatively quick. The Golden Visa is a separate, longer (10-year) residency with higher thresholds, aimed at significant investors and specialists. Most founders start with the standard investor visa and consider the Golden Visa later if they qualify.

What it gives you

An investor visa makes you a UAE resident: you can open bank accounts more easily, sponsor family, obtain an Emirates ID, and build your life here, all anchored to a company you own outright. For many people, that combination of 100% ownership and self-sponsored residency is the whole point of choosing the UAE.

Getting started

The visa follows the company, so the sequence is: choose a licence with the visa allocation you need, form the company, then process your investor visa. Getting the package right for your intended visa count at the start makes the whole path smoother.
